Long Bio:
The Tony Kaye Trio performs original music inspired by Hillcountry, Chicago, and Texas blues. Guitarist and songwriter Tony Kaye plays with feeling, in the moment, and brings an authenticity to blues guitar that listeners connect with on a emotional level. The band's music narrates experiences of addiction, recovery, and loss as well as the healing joy of playing the blues out on the road. In the tradition of pioneering and local bluesmen like Albert Collins, Jason Buie, and many others, Tony performs with the spirit of a showman and connects with blues fans during his lengthy 'guitar solo walk abouts'.
On drums, Laurent Boucher is accomplished in a broad variety of styles: from Country to Jazz, Rock, Latin, and World Percussion. He has performed with Valdy (folk), Salso Mochado (Brazillian), and Phil Dwyer (jazz), among others. On bass, Lloyd Tomczak has played the Blues throughout his musical career, performing with a long list of touring electric ‘Chicago Blues’ artists at festivals and clubs and local based players.
Tony Kaye Trio has released two full length CDs, and is set to release their third album in August 2025. Notably, their 2014 debut CD, "Boredom is the Devil's Tool', won Blues Recording of the Year at the 2015 Edmonton Music Awards. The band routinely gigs locally in Saskatoon and tours into Alberta and British Columbia.
